Why is my microphone creating an echo-ey sound?

Sennheiser PC & Gaming headsets have three discrete audio channels -- two for stereo and one for the microphone signal. In a situation where the microphone sounds echo-ey it is likely that the headset is getting too much voice signal back to the ear cups which is caused when the computer is providing too much voice feedback.

This is often referred to as "side tone" and the headset does not actually control this but rather it is controlled by the settings on the computer itself. To reduce the echo simply adjust the settings on the computer to get the correct audio signal balance that is needed.
